I just saw Nollywood actress, Eniola Badmus put this up on her Instagram page and decided to talk about it quickly.
PLEASE STOP BODY SHAMING PEOPLE because of their size!
This actually goes both ways because some very slim people are also insulted for being too thin though it seems like the plus size people have it worse.
Interestingly, I have always been plus size and there was a time I was so bothered about being fat I went on an extreme diet and almost lost my life. That was when I realized that your happiness shouldn't be tied to your physical size. At that time, I actually became quite slim but was very miserable because the external changed but my internal was still the same.
There is nothing wrong in being healthy and if you need to lose some weight to achieve that, please do so, but people need to be kind to others as you never know what they might be going through.
I remember during the Living My Truth Virtual conference I held in October, where I had Comedian, Lepacious Bose as a guest, she mentioned how she was moved to suicide at the comments people used to put under her post for being big. She tried all sorts of diets before realizing that she actually had a thyroid condition which was making her fat and not finding it easy to lose weight. You can watch the interview via this link https://youtu.be/XryKWngoEwc
Kindly be careful with the words you say to people as you never can tell what kind of reaction will come out of it.
Some people like Eniola might be bold enough to come out to talk about it publicly while some others might just end up committing suicide at the shame!
The funny thing is that she is even working on it and has really lost a lot of weight but people still keep insulting her...why no? PLEASE STOP IT!
