It is no longer a big deal to see youngsters on roller blades skate past your car in traffic in Lagos, often time dropping one flyer or the other in your car. Personally, I am of the opinion that it is quite dangerous as the area is not controlled and a car could hit them.
So imagine my appreciation to find out that there is actually a safe place where ANYONE can try out all their James Bond skating theaterics in a controlled environment right here in Maryland, Lagos!
Skate City is the number one skating rink in Lagos where the young and young at heart can actually skate away to their heart's content and if you fall down....well, you will get right up! Lol! Aunty Bimbo Kids Club usually organises exclusive weekend hangouts for children but parents are usually welcome to join us and my kids and I decided to check out Skate City which is located at Maryland Mall the latest 'Shoprite' as some people like to call it.
I found out that Skate City is actually the first skating rink built within a mall in Nigeria and it’s been uniquely designed to embrace safety and ultimate skating performance. Its perfect for beginners, expert and recreational skaters alike.
That, I can personally confirm as I took a ride on the hoverboard and from the video above, it was a seriously hands-on experience with my hoverboard babysteps! Anyone from age 4 can be allowed to skate and training is also available although my 11 year old boy started doing shakara after just a few minutes of being taught and he was already running circles around me!
Asides the secure and environmentally friendly space, Skate City also offers rental skates service and other skating merchandise are available for personal purchase.The Skate City Management team also provide outdoor skating rinks for outdoor skating events, school events and birthday parties. Infact one of my friends after seeing me on the hoverboard is already planning to have them come set up for her 40th birthday....hehehehe!
Another highlight for me is their Skate City Club which anyone can join at a very affordable fee so what are you still waiting for? Come Roll with it!
